Danka Weitzen

Danka Weitzen artist

Danka Weitzen is a contemporary realist painter known for her exquisitely detailed floral still lifes, where flowers appear so vivid and delicate that they seem almost alive. Her paintings reveal their mastery slowly — at first glance lifelike, then unmistakably painterly, executed with subtle layers of oil color and refined tonal nuances.

Born in Łódź, Poland, to a Polish father and an Italian mother, Danka moved to Turin, Italy as a child. She studied at the Accademia Albertina in Turin and began exhibiting professionally soon after graduating in 1969. Since then, her work has been exhibited extensively throughout Europe, the United States, and internationally.

A romantic spirit deeply inspired by nature, Danka creates intimate compositions using flowers she personally selects, often arranging them among antique china, lace, and domestic objects that evoke memory, tenderness, and quiet emotion. Influenced by Caravaggio and Artemisia Gentileschi, her work blends classical realism with a dreamlike, poetic sensibility.

Her paintings are held in prestigious private collections worldwide, including those of notable celebrities and members of royalty.
